CONTRACTORS ASSOCIATION OF EASTERN PENNSYLVANIA are Hosting a Special Presentation on 29 CFR 1926.1200 Confined Spaces for Construction

CAEPOn Thursday, October 22, 2015, Dennis Dougherty, President and CEO of Med-Tex Services, Inc. and CAEP Associate Member, will cover topics relating to confined spaces including: the comparison between general industry and construction, typical hazards and violations observed in the execution of confined space activities and the key areas to focus on during site evaluations or inspections.  He will discuss the impact of the OSHA’s new “Confined Spaces for Construction” standard and help identify the considerations of the companies involved in construction or for general industry settings that have construction activities on their property.

 

Dennis will also present the guidelines for emergency preparedness and rescue response time considerations. Discussions surrounding the new construction confined space regulation included the five key differences from the
general industry standard:

1. Impact of Multi-Employer Information Sharing
2. The need for a Competent Person for Evaluation of Spaces
3. Continuous Monitoring for Atmospheric Hazards
4. Continuous Monitoring for Engulfment Hazards
5. Permit Considerations
