Excavation Pre-Planning Saves Lives GOSH


On Monday October 31st, 2016 Terence McGovern, Med-Tex Services Safety Manager, will present on the importance Excavation Pre-Planning at the 2016 PA Safety Conference. The program will focus on proper pre-planning of excavations. Some areas of focus are how to prepare a pre-plan with special emphasis on the emergency responders. Attendees at the conference will have the opportunity to view a scenario in which Terry will utilize props to demonstrate how a worker would be engulfed during an actual collapse or failure of shoring during excavation work. Please be sure to stop by the MTS booth #46 if you are attending as Med-Tex Services will be unveiling our newest, state-of-the-art Rescue Vehicle at the conference.

More about Terry:

Terence McGovern is a safety, health and rescue professional with Med-Tex Services, Inc. He has been engaged in all aspects of Med-Tex Service business models for over 20 years.  In his current role as safety manager, he is responsible for overseeing field based safety technicians.  Terry has managed or personally worked on several high profile construction safety projects.

Terry is also a subject matter authority in the areas of high-angle and confined space rescue.  Terry’s experience touches many industries, including petro-chemical, power generation, construction and pharmaceutical.

Terry has a certificate in the “Construction Safety & Health – Certificate Program” at Temple University, Philadelphia, PA.  Further, he has received his Safety Trained Supervisor (STS) and Construction Safety & Health Technician (CHST) certificates through the Board of Certified Safety Professionals.
In addition, he is attending La Salle University, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania completing his degree in Business Administration.

As an OSHA 500 instructor, Terry regularly teaches OSHA 10 and 30-hour programs.  As well, he is an authorized master instructor with the Mid-Atlantic OTI (OSHA Training Institute) Education Center.  Terry has been a certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) since 1987 and is a certified American Red Cross CPR and first aid instructor.
